Slightly off topic, put relevant to religion nonetheless. My wife and I stopped celebrating Christmas this year, as we felt it has no connection with Christs’ birth and its rooted in pagan practices. That didn’t stop us from enjoying the time off though! We invited family over on the 27th to eat dinner together. Unfortunately I have a bad cough and sore throat, so that has been a bummer.
I read through Nehemiah, Esther over the break and am to Ch. 12 of Job. Job is a complex book for me in that the friends of Job and Job himself use a fair amount of analogies in their speech, which takes some getting used to. Job has just lost everything, his possessions, children, servants and has boils all over his body and wants to die. Of course we all know what happens, but it is interesting to see what this man is going through, since I have never read this book before. This is definitely a book which will take several readings before I can get a strong handle on what is going on.
