In the Old Testament, there are countless prophecies about the Messiah. Now the Jews thought they were going to get a literal, earthly King who would bring them back to power and make them a great nation again and take away their sins. In reality they got the Lord Jesus Christ, who is reigning in heaven on the right hand of God, but also brought salvation to those who believe.

Since those who have faith in Christ believe all scripture is inspired by God, the prophecies regarding Christ were correct, just not in the way Israel thought. Could this similar reasoning be applied to the millennium kingdom, where people read the scriptures to be literal, but in actuality, they are to be applied spiritually?

Just something to think about in the debate between premillennialism and amillennialism.
